What is the Pan African University (PAU)?

The Pan African University is a continental initiative of the African Union established to deliver world-class postgraduate education in fields that drive Africa’s development.

 Since 2014, PAU has awarded 2,549 postgraduate certificates to students from 50 AU member states.

The university operates through four specialised institutes:
1. PAUSTI in Kenya for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation
2. PAULESI in Nigeria for Life and Earth Sciences
3. PAUGHSS in Cameroon for Governance, Humanities, and Social Sciences
4.  PAUWES in Algeria for Water and Energy Sciences

Who Can Apply?

Master’s applicants must be 25 years old or younger for men and 28 or younger for women.

 They must hold at least a second-class upper bachelor’s degree and provide transcripts, certificates, identity, a Curriculum vitae, one recommendation letter, and three referees.

PhD applicants must be 28 years old or younger for men and 30 or younger for women.

 They must hold a Master’s degree and provide tanscripts, certificates, identity, a Curriculum vitae, two recommendation letters, three referees, and a 3–4-page research concept note.

Opens: November 15, 2025
Closes: December 15, 2025

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
